Rock
On the coast of Pacific Ocean
in Mendocino county,
California
stands a cliff
meditating for millions of years.
I dreamt once that I, too, was a cliff
an immense rock formation
371 feet tall
on the coast of Mendocino
washed by rain
kissed lavishly by the waves
wearing a moss coat,
softer than velvet
a foggy hat
and shoes made out of the ocean.
A tall cliff,
A beautifully,
naturally,
and irrecoverably
alone.
